In 1987 the limits of cost and printing availability meant that all the original artwork inside Hunter Planet was in black and white. Our artists did a great job of capturing the fun and adventure of the game using pen and ink, adding clever shading and techniques to portray depth and action.

With the 3rd Edition we have tons more options! We didn’t want to relegate the original excellent art to a historical memory hole, so one of our artists has painstakingly recreated the lifework of the originals and colourised them all individually. Comparing old and new is like seeing someone wake up from a deep sleep.

Today we can share some of the artwork by Mark Chettle. His art style is more stylised and captures the alien-ness of Federation of Planets citizens very well. Mark was also the very clever man who did all the layout and design of the original Hunter Planet. A very talented fellow!

Here are just two of the upgraded images.

First – Bugs Blaster, a sample character used in early games, with his own story to provide a good game example.

And next we have an anonymous FOP hunter who has just stepped in front of a window. I wonder what is on the other side of the window?

This is only some of the artwork we have been updating, plus lots of new art to enhance the Hunter Planet experience!

Don’t forget to register your interest in the Kickstarter staring on 1 June!
